SBR

  • introduction:
SBR is a synthetic rubber for general use. It is mass-produced today and currently accounts for about 65% of all synthetic rubber production.
SBR is a copolymer of styrene (C6H5CH=CH2) and butadiene (CH2=CH-CH=CH2), made by emulsion polymerization. SBR can be divided into two categories according to the polymerization temperature. It is called hot rubber when it is polymerized at 40~50 °C, and it is cold rubber when it is polymerized at 5-10 °C. SBR produced by low-temperature polymerization has a small molecular weight distribution range, fewer molecular branches, rich regularity, and properties are better than high-temperature polymerized rubber.
In addition to emulsion polymerization, there are also solution polymerization SBR production, which has the following advantages over emulsion polymerization SBR:
    1) Rolling shrinkage, less extrusion expansion, smooth surface
    2) Good streaming model
    3) Good wear resistance
    4) High filling, reducing cost
  • Characteristics;
SBR is widely used as general rubber. Compared with natural rubber, it has the following advantages and disadvantages
    advantage
    1) Uniform quality, less foreign matter
    2) Less unevenness of vulcanization rate
    3) Excellent aging resistance, heat resistance, and abrasion resistance
    4) Coking (scorch, premature vulcanization) is very stable
    5) Flat vulcanization, less recovery from vulcanization
    shortcoming
    1) The mechanical properties of pure rubber vulcanizates are very poor
    2) Vulcanization is slow, and a large amount of vulcanization accelerator must be used
    3) Weak tensile strength
    4) Low elasticity, high dynamic heat
    5) Poor adhesion, it must be equipped with appropriate adhesion imparting agent
  • Classification:
Domestic SBR is mainly divided into the following four types
SBR 1500- Polluting, there are also non-polluting products on the market
    SBR 1502- Non-polluting
    SBR 1778- Non-polluting, containing 37.5% naphthene oil
SBR 1712- Pollution, containing 37.5% aromatic oil
  • Origin:
At present, there are mainly domestic TSRC producing SBR at all levels, and various traders importing SBR from various countries, mainly in the following countries:
    Japan ZEON
    Korea KUMHO
